List of email service providers
Here is a list of email service providers, including details about their deliverability and pricing.
Part of our complete guide to self-hosted email deliverability. In a hurry? See SES vs Postmark vs Mailgun for a quick recommendation.
Quick answer
An email service provider (ESP) here means the relay that physically delivers your mail, not the tool you write campaigns in. The ones worth considering are Amazon SES (cheapest by a wide margin at roughly $0.10 per 1,000 emails, but the setup and sandbox removal are on you), Postmark (strongest inbox-placement reputation, around $1.00 to $1.50 per 1,000, easiest setup), Mailgun and SendGrid (mid-priced, deep APIs, mature tooling), Resend (developer-focused and newer), and Mailjet, Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), Elastic Email, and SparkPost as regional or budget options. If you want sending to stay in Europe, look at Brevo, Mailjet, Spotler SendPro, or Amazon SES and Mailgun in their EU regions (both are US companies). Scaleway Transactional Email is European too, but it only allows transactional mail, not newsletters. Postal is self-hosted, which means you own the IP reputation and the warm-up work entirely. At low volume, pick on setup effort and deliverability rather than price; the cost difference only becomes material above roughly 100,000 emails a month.

Sendinblue renamed itself Brevo on 4 May 2023. It is based in Paris, and its legal entity is still called Sendinblue SAS. Brevo offers a suite of marketing tools, and every plan includes transactional email through an API and an SMTP relay, so you can use it as the sending provider for Broadcast.

Mailchimp
Mailchimp is a popular marketing platform that includes email marketing, automation, and CRM features. It is owned by Intuit. Ireland, London, Paris, Stockholm, Milan and Zurich are also available, but Milan and Zurich have no SMTP endpoint. Amazon is still a US company: an EU region decides where the data is stored, not who the provider is.
