Kit Pricing (2026)

Kit, formerly ConvertKit, prices by subscriber count. It has a free plan that goes further than most, and two paid plans, Creator and Pro. Automations are where the free plan stops and the bill starts.

Figures below are Kit’s list prices as of September 2026, from kit.com/pricing and EmailToolTester’s September 2026 breakdown. Check Kit’s site for your exact subscriber count.

Is Kit free?

Yes, for up to 10,000 subscribers, which is more than Mailchimp, MailerLite or Beehiiv give away. You can send unlimited broadcasts, build forms and landing pages, tag and segment subscribers and sell digital products.

What the free plan doesn’t have is automation. Welcome sequences, visual automations and integrations with other tools need Creator. For most creators that is the moment they start paying, often well before they reach 10,000 subscribers.

Creator or Pro?

Creator covers what most newsletters need: sequences, automations and integrations. Pro is for teams and for growth. It adds unlimited team members, the referral system that rewards subscribers for sharing, deliverability reporting and engagement analytics. At 10,000 subscribers the step up is $50 a month.

What the same list costs on your own server

Broadcast is self-hosted email marketing software with sequences, automations, segments and forms. You pay $250 once, run it on a small server, and send through Amazon SES or another provider. There is no per-subscriber price.

For 10,000 subscribers getting a weekly newsletter:

  • Kit Creator: $139 a month, $1,668 a year on monthly billing.
  • Broadcast with Amazon SES: $250 once, then about $4 a month in SES fees plus a few dollars for the server.

What you give up: Kit’s creator tools, like its product checkout, the Creator Network and the referral system, plus a fully managed service. You run the server. Our Kit alternative page compares them, and the pricing calculator runs the numbers at your list size.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Kit cost?

Kit is free up to 10,000 subscribers without automations. Creator starts at $39 a month for 1,000 subscribers and is $139 at 10,000. Pro starts at $79 a month.

Is ConvertKit the same as Kit?

Yes. ConvertKit renamed itself Kit in 2024. The plans and pricing carried over.

Does Kit charge for unsubscribed subscribers?

Kit bills on active subscribers. Unsubscribed and bounced subscribers don’t count toward your plan.

Is Kit cheaper than Mailchimp?

At small list sizes with no automations, yes, because Kit’s free plan covers 10,000 subscribers. On paid plans they are close: at 10,000 contacts Mailchimp Standard is about $135 a month and Kit Creator $139. See Mailchimp pricing.
