Klaviyo Pricing (2026)
Klaviyo prices by active profiles: every contact in your account who can be emailed. It is built for ecommerce, and the price reflects that. At 10,000 profiles the email plan costs about $150 a month, and at 50,000 about $720.
Figures below are Klaviyo’s list prices from klaviyo.com/pricing and EmailToolTester’s August 2026 breakdown. Klaviyo’s calculator gives the exact price for your profile count.
What Klaviyo costs by list size
| Active profiles | Email and SMS | Email, per year | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 250 | Free, or $20 | $35 | $0 to $240 |
| 1,000 | $30 | $45 | $360 |
| 3,000 | $70 | $85 | $840 |
| 10,000 | $150 | $165 | $1,800 |
| 50,000 | $720 | $735 | $8,640 |
The email plan’s monthly send allowance grows with the tier, from 5,000 emails at the bottom to 2 million at the top. The email and SMS plan includes the same email sends plus SMS credits.
The free plan
Klaviyo’s free plan covers up to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month, with a small allowance for SMS and its AI tools. Once you pass either limit, sending can pause until you upgrade. It is enough to set up a store and test flows, not to run a list.
How active profiles are counted
Since February 2025, Klaviyo bills on the total number of active profiles in your account, not on how many you actually emailed that month. An active profile is anyone who can receive marketing email. Unsubscribed and suppressed profiles don’t count.
That change raised bills for stores with large lists they email selectively. Klaviyo gave long-time customers discounts that capped the increase, but new accounts pay the full rate. Suppressing profiles you no longer email keeps them out of the count.
Where Klaviyo earns its price
Klaviyo’s strength is ecommerce data. It pulls orders, products and browsing events from Shopify and other stores, and uses them for abandoned cart flows, product recommendations, predicted lifetime value and revenue reporting. If those flows drive a large share of your revenue, the price can pay for itself.
If you mostly send newsletters, product updates and simple sequences, you are paying for depth you don’t use.
What the same list costs on your own server
Broadcast is self-hosted email marketing software. You pay $250 once, run it on a small server, and send through Amazon SES or another provider. There is no per-profile price.
For 10,000 subscribers getting a weekly email:
- Klaviyo email plan: $150 a month, $1,800 a year.
- Broadcast with Amazon SES: $250 once, then about $4 a month in SES fees plus a few dollars for the server.
Broadcast has segments, sequences, an API and webhooks, but not Klaviyo’s native Shopify event tracking or predictive analytics. Our Klaviyo alternative page covers who should switch and who shouldn’t. The pricing calculator compares both at your list size.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Klaviyo cost per month?
About $30 a month for 1,000 active profiles, $150 for 10,000 and $720 for 50,000 on the email plan. Adding SMS costs about $15 a month more at those sizes.
Is Klaviyo free?
For up to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month. Beyond that you need a paid plan.
Why did my Klaviyo bill go up?
Most likely the 2025 switch to billing on all active profiles, or your list crossing into the next tier. Suppress profiles you no longer email to bring the count down.
Is Klaviyo more expensive than Mailchimp?
Usually, yes. At 10,000 contacts Klaviyo’s email plan is about $150 a month and Mailchimp Standard about $135. See Mailchimp pricing.
