Terminology

Most of the terminologies used in Broadcast should be familar with users familiar with email marketing.

We will list them here for your reference and what they mean inside the context of the Broadcast application.

broadcast channel

Also known as channels, these are the silos for your subscribers and the emails you send to them.

On other platforms, this is often referred to as a “list”.

broadcast emails

Aside from being the name of the software, we refer to broadcast emails as the emails that you manually send.

These are typically used for one-time email blasts, such as newsletters, alerts, or promotional emails.

email sequences

Also known as “drip campaigns”, email sequences are a series of automated emails sent to your subscribers based on a specific schedule or trigger event.

transactional emails

Transactional emails are emails that are sent programmatically triggered through the API.

These are typically used for one-time emails triggered by specific user actions, such as password resets, order confirmations, or shipping notifications.

subscribers

Subscribers are the users who have opted in to receive your emails or you have added manually to your channel.

They are usually collected through a signup form or other opt-in process, or imported manually from an external system.
